Please support our new project, 3rd World Water

Listen to our 2-minute message Here

A friend and I have come up with a design for a simple, self contained water purification unit for use in remote locations. A solar powered ionizer and a replaceable, easily sourced particulate media filter promise potable water virtually anywhere on earth that sand and water are available. It can't desalinate water, but virtually any other material in the water is removable with this treatment regimen. We need a little capital to build a few more units for testing, and we'd like to send several units abroad. Originally designed to provide potable water from a rainwater collection and storage system at my home, we realized the design was inexpensive, versatile, and useful to those truly in need. We intend on running a promotion similar to the OLPC project where the purchase of one unit for yourself gets one sent to a community in need abroad. Details will be posted soon, but for now this budget should cover all the development costs and production of a first run of approximately 15-20 units.

We estimate the final cost of a unit capable of processing all the daily drinking water needs for upwards of 30 individuals at roughly $10.00 US.

Water is precious and vital. Help us help the world!
